PRODUCTION A - pay in full Parts 1 & 2 and save $50 off the cost of tuition

Part 1: Screenplay, Pre-Production & Filming
7 Fridays - $210        

Students collaborate on the creation of a sci-fi movie, complete with special effects. Both first-time filmmakers and those with experience will develop skills and confidence by taking on various rolls behind and in front of the camera.

Part 2: Filming Special Effects, Post-Production Sound & Editing
8 Fridays - $240        

Continuing with the footage filmed in Part 1, students will utilize various editing software and tools, experiment with special effects, and produce a final version of the sci-fi movie for viewing.

Let's Make a Movie!  Just for Kids / Summer

Students participate in the complete production of a short film while learning fundamentals of filmmaking, including:

  • Choosing a story
  • Writing the script
  • Storyboarding
  • Location Scouting
  • Props/Costumes/Actors
  • Shooting the Film
  • Editing

Completed production will premiere publicly at the 3rd Annual Movies Made by Salt Spring Kids Film Festival (planned for late summer/early fall).

Class size limit: 8 students.  Recommended ages: 8 - 14 years old.  The tuition of $150 includes a DVD copy of the final film. Meeting location to be announced, within walking distance to various downtown Ganges filming locations. Contact Shelley for more information or to register.

 

About Cindy

Cindy

Instructor Cindy Jacobsen has been teaching movie-making workshops for children on Salt Spring Island since 2006. She received a B.A. in Art from California State University Hayward, with post-secondary studies in Filmmaking and certifications in Multimedia Authoring and Web Authoring.

Past careers have included working in the film industry, designing and maintaining websites, and as a college instructor of media studies and web design. Her other passion, beyond teaching kids how to make movies, is developing documentary projects of her own.
